Information About Alegebra Exit Exam
The Algebra Exit Exam is a standardized test created to provide middle-grade students with the opportunity to place into advanced algebra classes which can eventually lead to AP courses. The Algebra Exit Exam is administered at the end of every school year for CPS and non-CPS students who wish to advance to higher-level math classes during the following year.
-
This exam is administered digitally. Students are given 34 multiple choice questions, 4 short constructed response questions, and 2 extended constructed response questions. They have 120 minutes (2 hours) to complete this exam.
The advanced calculator feature is enabled for the full exam. Students may also opt to use a handheld graphing calculator that does not have Computer Algebra System (CAS) functionality. Examples of allowable calculators include TI-83, TI-84 PLUS. Please click here for more details about acceptable calculators for the exam.

The exam is graded on a scale of 150 – 415. The results are recorded as pass or not pass. Students must score at least 300 points to pass and therefore be considered competent enough to advance to higher-level math courses.
